February 17, 2004 –Devrace is publishing FIBPlus v.5.2, a robust and easy-to-use library of Borland Delphi, Borland C++ Builder and Borland Kylix components for direct work with Borland InterBase and Firebird databases. The new version provides you with a unique ability of developing applications that can simultaneously work with different InterBase and Firebird versions using separate client libraries (gds32.dll, fbclient.dll, fbembed.dll) for each connection. Besides FIBPlus 5.2 has increased performance for work through low-speed channels like dial-up, ISDN, etc.

Main features and benefits of new FIBPlus version

• Support of different InterBase and Firebird versions in the same application! An ability to set a path to the client library for each TpFIBDatabase component (gds32.dll, fbclient.dll, fbembed.dll).
• Full control of local sorting. Using a corresponding handler it’s possible to control sorting order on calling DoSort and DoSortEx methods. So now one can also sort by national character sets.
• Improved SQL Generator. FIBPlus 5.2 has a better SQL Generator, which works now with TpFIBQuery too.
• Improved application performance at low-speed channels. Optimized metadata cache mechanism and DataSet Repository caching, which enables to reduce a number of system queries to the remote database.
